Trump Secures TikTok US Operations, Joins Platform

President Trump has taken steps to secure the U.S. operations of TikTok, signing an executive order and reaching an agreement with ByteDance. The White House has also joined the platform to celebrate its new U.S. version.

Trump's executive order mandates that TikTok must be operated by a U.S.-based company, separate from its Chinese parent, ByteDance. This is to ensure the safety of U.S. users' data. An agreement has been reached to facilitate this transition.

To mark the launch of the new U.S. version of TikTok, the White House has opened an official profile. Oracle Corporation will oversee the security of the app's algorithm in the U.S. President Trump himself addressed young TikTok users for the first time since his return to the White House, posting a video that received nearly a million views, 147,000 likes, 6,000 comments, and was shared over 7,000 times in just three hours.

Trump's TikTok video marks his first post on the platform since the U.S. presidential elections in November 2024. In the video, he playfully thanked young TikTok users for their support, joking that they 'owe him one' for saving the social media platform.
