Teknofest Returns to Istanbul: Five Days of Innovation and Spectacle

Teknofest, Turkey's premier technology festival, is set to return to Istanbul from September 17 to 21. Organised by the Turkish Technology Team (T3) Foundation and the Industry and Technology Ministry of Turkey, the event will take place at the Atatürk Airport.

Since its inception in 2018, Teknofest has been held annually, with the support of various government bodies, private sector partners, and universities. The festival has grown in scale and popularity, attracting millions of visitors from around the world. In 2024, the Teknofest event in the southern Turkish city of Adana drew approximately 1.1 million visitors, bringing the total attendance to around 11 million so far.

Teknofest offers a diverse range of activities, beyond its technology competitions. Spectacular events include breathtaking air shows, exhibitions, workshops, immersive simulation areas, a planetarium, trade fair activities, and special student flight events. The event's maritime edition, Blue Homeland, was recently held in Istanbul, featuring a naval parade in the Bosphorus, highlighting the importance of Turkey's maritime jurisdiction and national rights in surrounding seas.

Participants from around the globe will share their knowledge and experience at Teknofest. Teams that pass the preliminary stage will receive financial support exceeding 85 million Turkish Liras (approximately $2 million). The winning teams will receive prizes totaling more than 65 million liras ($1.6 million).

People can apply for free tickets to attend the Teknofest event on the event's website. The festival has been held in different Turkish cities in even-numbered years and in Istanbul in odd-numbered years. In addition, Teknofest has been held in two foreign countries: Azerbaijan and Turkish Cyprus.

The Blue Homeland doctrine, a central pillar of Turkey's security strategy and geopolitical outlook, will undoubtedly be a significant part of the maritime-themed events at Teknofest. The festival promises to be an unmissable celebration of innovation, technology, and Turkey's rich cultural heritage.
