TVW Public Affairs Broadcast Revamped by Keycode Media
TVW, Washington State's public affairs network, has upgraded its live and file-based playout system with the implementation of the PlayBox Neo Suite. This new system, designed by Keycode Media, offers a streamlined multimedia workflow that provides flexibility, seamless operation, and reliable playout required by TVW.
The heart of the new workflow consists of master and redundant PlayBox Neo AirBox Neo systems, each with 12 channels. These servers interface directly with TVW's third-party trafficking system, ensuring smooth integration and efficient workflow management.
The PlayBox Neo Suite serves as a centralized platform, offering control, monitoring, and administration of the entire workflow. It integrates modular "Channel in a Box" products, allowing for customized scalability from ingest and scheduling to transmission. This design provides TVW with the flexibility to change playlists instantly, schedule programming in advance, and maintain seamless interfacing with their trafficking system under tight deadlines.
Key components of the workflow include TitleBox Neo for interactive character generation (CG), ListBox for schedule creation and real-time playlist editing, Live Ingest for capturing live content, and the Multi-Backup Manager (MBM) for multi-channel redundancy and failover.
One of the standout features of the PlayBox Neo platform is its ability to communicate seamlessly with all tools in master control. This feature is particularly beneficial for TVW, as it allows for live productions to be streamlined, enabling the insertion of live streams into the playlist.
The new workflow also allows for media to be trimmed, edited, or repositioned while on-air, providing TVW with the flexibility to accommodate a constantly changing playlist. Additionally, the system is designed to update graphics on the fly and allow for editing material as it is ingested, ensuring that the network's content remains fresh and up-to-date.
TVW produces original documentaries, programmes with in-depth interviews, and educational content about Washington public policy. With the new PlayBox Neo Suite, the network can now schedule playlists weeks ahead of time for automated playout, while still having the ability to make changes on-air as needed.
The PlayBox system also controls the network's NVision 9000 router, demonstrating the versatility of the platform. This upgrade not only maximizes existing investments but also supports future upgrades, ensuring that TVW remains at the forefront of multimedia workflow technology.
In summary, the new playout system for TVW Washington's Public Affairs Network offers a cohesive integration that maximizes existing investments, supports future upgrades, and enables both live and file-based playout with reliable, seamless operation and the flexibility required by TVW.
