**Honor Magic V5: World's Thinnest Foldable Phone Now Available Globally**

The latest innovation in the world of foldable phones, the Honor Magic V5, has been unveiled, boasting impressive features and a sleek design. Although it won't be available in the US, it's creating a buzz worldwide.

The Honor Magic V5, measuring just 8.8mm at its thinnest point when folded and 4.1mm when open (Ivory White model), is the world's thinnest foldable phone. It weighs 217g (Ivory White model), making it lighter than the non-foldable Galaxy S25 Ultra (218g) and iPhone 16 Pro Max (227g).

The device comes with a protective case included in the box, which has a built-in kickstand around the camera cutout. The large, foldable screen has a black bezel similar in size to that of the competition. The screen's crease has been improved, making it almost invisible to the eye unless the handset is tilted at a rakish angle.

The Honor Magic V5 sports a triple camera setup on its rear, consisting of a 50MP main camera, 64MP periscope telephoto lens, and a 50MP ultra-wide camera. The handset is powered by the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, along with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

The device is armored with aerospace grade fibers and has a "Super Steel" hinge, contributing to its durability. It comes in four colour options: Ivory White, Black, Dawn Gold, and Reddish Brown. The Ivory White model is the thinnest and lightest, while the other colours are slightly thicker and heavier.

As for the cost, the Honor Magic V5 is priced in China starting from RMB 8,999 (approximately USD 1,255) for the 12GB+256GB model, RMB 9,999 (approximately USD 1,395) for the 16GB+512GB model, and RMB 10,999 (approximately USD 1,535) for the 16GB+1TB model. Direct imports are available starting at about $1,529 to $1,599.

Although the exact availability in different regions, including the US, has not been confirmed yet, the device is expected to launch outside China later this month or by August at the latest. The cost in the UK and Europe has not yet been announced, but it is expected to be revealed nearer to its global launch on August 28.

Samsung may feel some competition with the Honor Magic V5, as it is shaping up to be one of the best foldable phones around. While Samsung can breathe a little easier as the Honor Magic V5 won't be available in the US, it's a phone worth keeping an eye on for those in other regions.

The Honor Magic V5, a sleek and innovative foldable phone, doesn't only compete with existing models due to its thinness, but also impresses with its lightweight 217g design, making it lighter than some smartphones like the Galaxy S25 Ultra and iPhone 16 Pro Max. This device boasts a triple camera setup of 50MP, 64MP, and 50MP lenses, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, and equipped with 16GB of RAM and 512GB storage.
