U.S. Senate Confirms Dudley Hoskins as Under Secretary for Pet Food Industry's Growth
The U.S. Senate has confirmed Dudley Hoskins as Under Secretary of Agriculture for Marketing and Regulatory Programs at the USDA. The Pet Food Institute (PFI) welcomed the news, expressing confidence in Hoskins' ability to serve with dedication, as praised by U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry Chairman John Boozman (R-AR).
Hoskins' confirmation comes on the heels of a significant increase in U.S. pet food exports, which reached over $2.5 billion in 2024. The U.S. pet food industry ships its products to over 90 countries worldwide, with PFI actively participating in the USDA's Market Access Program (MAP) to promote U.S. pet food in 18 countries. PFI has been involved in USDA export promotion programs since 1993, demonstrating a long-standing commitment to expanding the reach of U.S. pet food products globally.
Hoskins' extensive policy expertise and deep understanding of the role of Marketing and Regulatory Programs, honed through his prior experience as a staff member for the U.S. Senate, make him well-qualified for his new position. PFI looks forward to working with Under Secretary Hoskins to ensure the safety and quality of pet food and treats, both domestically and internationally.
With Hoskins' confirmation, the USDA gains a dedicated and experienced leader to oversee marketing and regulatory programs, including those crucial to the pet food industry. PFI's continued participation in USDA export promotion programs, coupled with Hoskins' expertise, bodes well for the future of U.S. pet food exports.
