Introducing GPT-5: A Smarter, Faster, and More Reliable AI Assistant

In a groundbreaking development, the latest addition to the ChatGPT family, GPT-5, is set to revolutionise the way users interact with AI. Offering improved health-related performance, GPT-5 is designed to act as a smart support system for its users.

One of the key features of GPT-5 is its Unified Adaptive System. Unlike its predecessor GPT-4, GPT-5 employs a "real-time router" that intelligently selects the appropriate mode (fast or deep "thinking") based on conversation complexity, tool needs, and user intent. This ensures that users always receive the best version of the model for their query, without the need for manual intervention.

GPT-5 showcases Improved Reasoning and Accuracy. It boasts substantially higher reasoning accuracy and is better at complex, open-ended problem-solving, including advanced math, coding, and scientific queries. GPT-5 exhibits fewer logic errors, stronger math/coding skills, and a drastic reduction in hallucinations (incorrect factual outputs), making it approximately 45% fewer factual errors than GPT-4o and about 6 times fewer hallucinations under demanding benchmarks.

The new model also delivers Efficiency Gains. GPT-5 uses 50-80% fewer output tokens than previous models for the same tasks, making it more concise and faster in providing responses while maintaining or improving quality.

GPT-5 also enhances Multimodal and Customization Capabilities. It offers more customization options than GPT-4 to better tailor responses to user needs and improves visual reasoning.

In terms of Interaction Style, GPT-5 acts as a more active thought partner, proactively detecting potential issues and asking clarifying questions, rather than blindly agreeing or being overly complimentary. This makes the interaction more helpful and dynamic.

On various academic and human-evaluated benchmarks, such as AIME ’25, GPQA, HMMT 2025, and others, GPT-5 surpasses GPT-4 and intermediate models by significant margins, confirming its advances in intelligence, reasoning, and factual reliability.

Availability and Pricing

GPT-5 is now available for free to all ChatGPT users, with usage capped for free users. Starting next week, GPT-5 will be the default model for enterprise and EDU accounts. Plus and Pro users will see significantly higher usage limits, with unlimited access available to Pro subscribers.

GPT-5 is launching with three model variants: gpt-5, gpt-5-mini, and gpt-5-nano, each offering improved latency and cost options. The new model aims to avoid overpromising and focuses on safe completions.

Lastly, GPT-5 is tailored to flag concerns, ask questions before appointments, help interpret results, and adapt advice by context, geography, and knowledge level. It can maintain long-context coherence across documents with a 256K token window.

In summary, GPT-5 brings a smarter, faster, more adaptable, and factually reliable experience than GPT-4, largely due to its intelligent model routing, improved reasoning accuracy, reduced hallucinations, and efficiency in token usage.
