Vay Launches Remote-Driving CarShare in Las Vegas, Plans Global Expansion
German company Vay has launched a pioneering remote-driving carshare service in Las Vegas, with plans to expand both in the US and Europe. The service, which allows users to request a remote-driven EV to their location, has already completed over 17,000 trips and is half the price of traditional ride-hailing services.
Vay's innovative technology enables a remote driver to take control of the vehicle after the user ends their trip, returning it to base. The company sees vast potential in this technology, envisioning applications in freight transport and other sectors.
Vay plans to have 100 vehicles on the road in the US by the end of 2024. To facilitate this expansion, the company has secured a production facility in Las Vegas for its electric fleet and maintenance. The new 'StVFernLV' law in Germany has also provided a legal framework for remote-driving services, paving the way for Vay's expansion in Europe.
Vay's remote-driving rental service has proven successful in Las Vegas, with over 17,000 trips completed. As the company looks towards expansion in the US and Europe, it aims to revolutionize the way we think about carsharing and mobility.
