VisionCraft AI claimed victory in the 2024 Smart Cities Global Startup Contest
In an exciting development, VisionCraft AI, a Czech Republic-based company, has been announced as the winner of the 2024 Smart Cities Global Startup Challenge. The competition took place at the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) in Barcelona, with partners Frisco and McKinney, and a panel of judges.
VisionCraft AI's innovative solution, dubbed the 'Digital Data Eye', uses AI-based computer vision object detection algorithms to determine an object's speed, direction, size, trajectory, and more. This technology is set to revolutionise safety and function across various sectors, including ITS, manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, enterprises, retail, and more.
The North Texas Innovation Alliance (NTXIA) and Curiosity Lab at Peachtree Corners, a smart city hub offering a real-world environment to test and deploy technologies, jointly organised the competition. The finalists for the competition were Ecosystem Informatics, L&T Technology Services, Sial-tronica 22 SL, and VisionCraft AI.
As the winner, VisionCraft AI will be invited to conduct its pilot in the United States at Curiosity Lab at Peachtree Corners, Georgia. This opportunity comes with several benefits, including office space, funding for their first pilot, travel and accommodations across the U.S., and introductions to high-level individuals in public and private organisations to support their entrance into the U.S. market.
Brandon Branham, the executive director at Curiosity Lab, stated that VisionCraft's solution will be a strong addition to the smart city ecosystem. Jennifer Sanders, the Executive Director at NTXIA, also praised the finalists, stating that they did a fantastic job showcasing their solutions.
Entering the U.S. market may present specific challenges, but Curiosity Lab is equipped to remove those challenges for VisionCraft. NTXIA and their partners in North Texas will provide the resources needed for VisionCraft AI to succeed in the U.S. market, and they are looking forward to welcoming the VisionCraft AI team in the upcoming months.
Notably, VisionCraft AI's IoT sensor processes video streams directly at the edge and does not depend on 24/7 electricity or wired data in real time, making it an ideal solution for smart city applications.
NTXIA and Curiosity Lab plan to hold the Smart Cities Global Startup Challenge again in 2025 at SCEWC in Barcelona, providing another opportunity for innovative startups to showcase their solutions and potentially enter new markets.
