Volare Bolsters Leadership, Raises €26M for Insect Protein Expansion
Volare, a Finnish biotech company, has appointed Antti Åke as Chief Operating Officer and Benjamin Armenjon as Chief Commercial Officer. The company recently raised €26 million to build its first large-scale production facility and advance its insect protein technology.
Åke, who previously led international teams at Bayer and Covestro, and served as CEO of WasteWise Group, will oversee plant operations and the company's expanding team. Meanwhile, Armenjon, who brings extensive experience from the aviation industry and a decade at Ÿnsect, including a stint as Chief Commercial Officer, will lead commercial strategy, global partnerships, and customer growth.
Volare's first large-scale facility, Volare 01, is under construction in Pori, Finland. The funding will support this project and the development of black soldier fly-based ingredients for pet food, aquafeed, and chemical applications. The company is moving towards full-scale production with these advancements.
With the appointments of Åke and Armenjon, Volare strengthens its leadership team. The recent funding will enable the construction of Volare 01 and the advancement of its insect protein technology, bringing the company closer to full-scale production.
