Worldwide Hydrospatial Movement Takes Hold!

The Hydrospatial Movement Club & Community (HMCC) was established at the end of 2020 by a global group of professional volunteers in the water domain. This dynamic organisation, open to positive and constructive individuals, serves as a voice and advocate for Hydrospatial in the oceans, seas, lakes, and rivers.

The HMCC has been presented in various platforms, such as videos like the MSDI Video (2018) and the Hydrospatial presentation at the SeaTech Week 2020 Virtual Event. The term Hydrospatial is invited for further exploration and discussion by individuals or organisations interested in its development and activities.

The HMCC has set out goals to recruit members with diverse backgrounds, present at events and publish papers yearly on relevant topics, and establish and implement basic criteria and rules to recruit members. The current core Club is composed of twelve members, including two co-leads and two members per continent.

Michael Jonas, among others, has written articles on Hydrospatial for Hydro International Magazine, and the HMCC's founder, David Hains, has presented on Hydrospatial in various conferences, including the US HYDRO Conference 2017, Canadian Hydrographic Conference 2020, and the 20th meeting of the Meso American & Caribbean Sea Hydrographic Commission (MACHC).

The HMCC is mentioned in various articles, websites, and technical literature, including Hydro International Magazine, International Hydrographic Review (IHR), and US HYDRO Proceedings. Interested individuals can register as a volunteer member of the HMCC by following the HMCC LinkedIn site.

The HMCC values include trust, respect, sustained commitment, proactivity, and honesty. The organisation aims to expand into a larger, vibrant Community using social media and is open to anyone interested in joining. The HMCC intends to go beyond the traditional meaning of hydrography into a multi-dimensional and temporal data content that are becoming more relevant and critical in the digital world of Big Data, the Internet of Things, and Artificial Intelligence.

Constructive feedback, comments, and suggestions are welcome from those interested in Hydrospatial. More information on Hydrospatial and the HMCC can be found on a Story Map at https://arcg.is/19fiab and by joining the HMCC LinkedIn Group site at https://lnkd.in/eBYGfkpq.

Please note that the precise current definition and purpose of the HMCC cannot be confirmed from the provided sources. Additional information from official HMCC resources or updated organisational materials would be required to provide an accurate and current description. The HMCC is neither a non-profit organisation nor an overly structured group, but rather a platform for sharing and advocating for Hydrospatial knowledge.

The HMCC encourages collaboration to address the escalating needs in Hydrospatial technology. The term Hydrospatial is invited for further exploration and discussion by individuals or organisations interested in its development and activities.

  1. The HMCC, a dynamic community focusing on Hydrospatial, has been engaging in collaborative discussions and projects, with contributions from environmental science and data-and-cloud-computing technology.
  2. In an effort to understand and address climate-change impacts, the HMCC has been advocating for the importance of marine spatial data, shining a light on its role in hydrographic studies and oceanographic research.
  3. Alongside the HMCC's social media presence and publication of annual papers on relevant topics, they aim to use the latest advancements in science and technology to further develop and promote the understanding of Hydrospatial.
